Where does it hurt?

Arm & Elbow

Your diagnosis starts with a physical exam done by an athletic trainer, who is expertly familiar with the musculoskeletal system. The athletic trainer then collaborates with our team of doctors and orthopedic surgeons to determine your exact diagnosis.

We often use diagnostic tests to confirm the type of arm or elbow injury you have. This may include a high-resolution ultrasound to determine the location and extent of your injury, and to view how movement may affect your condition. Our team may also use high-resolution MRIs or X-rays as part of your diagnosis.

Foot & Ankle

How are foot and ankle injuries diagnosed?

Your diagnosis starts with a physical exam, often followed by diagnostic tests to verify the type of foot or ankle injury you have. We may use ultrasounds, X-Rays, MRIs and CT scans to help determine the location and extent of your injury and how best to treat it.

Hand & Wrist

We thoroughly evaluate each patient to help determine the most effective treatment. Our team will use a combination of a physical exam and diagnostic tests to verify the type of hand or wrist problem you have. After a physical exam, we may use imaging, such as X-rays, CT scans and MRIs, to determine the extent of your injury and how best to treat it.

Hip & Groin

Diagnosis of your hip or groin condition or injury starts with a detailed discussion of the problem, followed by a comprehensive physical examination. A team approach is used to diagnose your injury or condition. This includes input from doctors and physical therapist who collaborate with our team and orthopedic surgeons to determine your exact diagnosis and to provide the best plan of care.

Diagnostic imaging is often used to better understand the condition or injury. X-rays may be sufficient to confirm the diagnosis, but advanced imaging, such as CT scans with 3D reconstructions and high-resolution MRIs, may be needed to define the injury and help determine the treatment plan, including any pre-operative planning.

Knee & Leg

Your diagnosis starts with a physical exam. After this initial exam, we often use diagnostic tests to confirm the type of knee or leg injury you have. We may use ultrasound, high-resolution MRIs, X-rays and CT scans to help determine the location and extent of your injury and how best to treat it.

Shoulder

We thoroughly evaluate each patient to determine the most effective treatment. Our team will use a combination of a physical exam and diagnostic tests to verify the type of shoulder problem you have. After a physical exam, we may use imaging, such as X-rays, CT scans and MRIs, to determine the extent of your injury and how best to treat it.

Spine & Back

Our team uses advanced diagnostic tests to locate the exact source of your spine or back pain. We use imaging, such as CT scans and MRIs, to determine your precise diagnosis.

We also use X-ray-guided injections, to diagnose conditions. If the injection relieves pain, it can help us find which part of the back or spine is causing the problem.

Our team is also skilled in electromyography (EMG) nerve conduction studies. This procedure helps us check whether nerves in your back and spine are working properly.

If surgery is needed, we may use tests like discographies to help surgeons better plan your treatment. During a discography, we inject a contrast dye into discs in your back while taking an X-ray. This procedure can help us find pain points in your back, and the image can show us where there may be a problem with one of the discs.
